It’ll be an exciting matchup Tuesday night as the No. 18 Ole Miss Rebels take on the No. 19 Southern Miss Golden Eagles Tuesday night at Trustmark Park in Pearl.

The Rebels are looking to bounce back after a tough series loss to Arkansas. Despite the setback, Ole Miss boasts a potent offense, ranking ninth in the NCAA for home runs per game. Their pitching staff, led by Hunter Elliott, has been formidable, averaging 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings. Mitchell Sanford, who hit .455 with two home runs in the Arkansas series, will be a key offensive threat. Freshman Hayden Federico, with an impressive .487 on-base percentage, adds depth to the lineup. It’ll be a rematch from February 25 in which the Rebs won big 18-5 over the Golden Eagles in a Tuesday night matchup in Oxford. Ole Miss scored in six different innings as all nine starters scored at least once. The Rebs will throw Freshamn Cade Townsend Tuesday night. Townsend has a 8.44 ERA in 5.1 IP.

The Golden Eagles are riding high after a series win over Old Dominion, where they outscored their opponents 23-10. The Golden Eagles will rely on their balanced attack and the arm of RHP Matthew Adams (2-1, 3.05 ERA) to keep the Rebels in check. Last weekend Southern Miss bought out the bats with 2B Nick Monistere, OF Carson Paetow and 1B Matthew Russo all homering over the weekend. With SS Ozzie Pratt hitting a crucial grand slam in Game 1 Friday night.

First pitch is at 6:05 and will be the first college series game of the year at Trustmark Park in Pearl, formerly home of the Mississippi Braves. Ole Miss leads the all-time series over Southern Mississippi 85-54. Tuesday’s matchup will mark the 140th meeting between Ole Miss and Southern Miss. It will be the 17th all-time meeting at Trustmark Park with the series tied at 8.
