Big news out of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum — the Biloxi Breakers have officially named Charlie Pens Jr. as the team’s new Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations. Pens will handle everything from building the roster to running daily hockey operations as the Breakers set their sights on their first-ever Commissioners Cup.
Team owner Chris Bryniarski said the decision came down to experience and fit.
“Success in the FPHL starts with understanding the landscape of the league and knowing how to find and develop the right talent,” said team owner Chris Bryniarski. “Throughout our search, Charlie stood out—not only for his knowledge of the league, but for his proven track record and leadership ability. Our mission is to put a team on the ice that the Biloxi community can rally behind. Charlie shares that vision—starting with a playoff berth and ultimately bringing home a championship.”

Pens isn’t new to the game. He played Major Junior hockey under two well-known names—Patrick Roy and Pascal Vincent—and trained with NHL development coaches like Robby Glantz (LA Kings) and Mark Ciaccio (NY Rangers). Over the course of more than 300 professional games, Pens wore multiple hats—player, GM, and coach. He wrapped up his playing career in 2023 as captain of the Watertown Wolves, and now he’s bringing that leadership to the bench full-time.
“I’m fired up,” Pens said. “I want to bring a tough, exciting, high-scoring team to the Coliseum—something the fans here can get behind. We’re going to make Biloxi a place where nobody wants to play… because it’s just that tough. The fans deserve better, and I’m here to deliver. Get ready, Breakers fans.”
Pens will soon be sitting down with the team’s new broadcaster Devin Dobek for a one-on-one interview, giving fans an early look at what’s ahead.
