Mississippi State fans are no strangers to the postseason grind. From Omaha championships to rowdy super regionals in Starkville, Bulldog Nation knows how to travel—and more importantly, how to show up when it matters. This weekend, the Diamond Dawgs head south to Tallahassee, Florida, to take on the Regionals at Dick Howser Stadium, the home of the Florida State Seminoles. And while the Seminoles boast a rich tradition and a loyal fan base, let’s be honest—when your home field is Dudy Noble Field, the undisputed cathedral of college baseball, you don’t get rattled by a little noise. State fans are used to elite ballparks, packed crowds, and postseason pressure. This isn’t new ground—it’s just the next stop on the road back to Omaha.
⚾ Game Day at Dick Howser Stadium

Dick Howser Stadium, tucked into the northwest corner of Florida State’s campus, is a crown jewel of college baseball. It holds a little over 6,000, but on Regional weekend, it’ll feel twice that. Seminole fans are loud, loyal, and rowdy—especially in Section B, home to the infamous “Animals,” a group of organized super-fans who’ll sing, chant, and heckle from the first pitch to the last out.
🏛️ Capitol City Charm
If you’ve got time to explore the city, Tallahassee has plenty to offer beyond the diamond. As Florida’s capital, it boasts the impressive Capitol Complex downtown. Take a ride up to the 22nd floor of the new Capitol building for panoramic views of the city, then walk over to the Old Capitol—restored to its 1902 glory—for a quick stroll through Florida’s political past.

Just a few blocks away is the Museum of Florida History, an air-conditioned treasure trove of everything from Civil War artifacts to space race memorabilia. If you’re feeling more casual, the Railroad Square Art District offers murals, vintage shops, and coffee stops that give Tallahassee its quirky character.

🍽️ Where to Eat
First stop: Madison Social, the crown jewel of College Town. This is the go-to pregame and postgame hangout, known for its MadSo burgers, brunch cocktails, and famous BLT dip.

Other popular restaurants to check out in the College Town neighborhood include Coosh’s for Cajun fare, 51 on Madison and Bowden’s, and I think you know who Bowden’s is named after. Signature dishes such as the “Dual Threat Burger” and “Pigskin Mac & Cheese” pay homage to FSU traditions. The restaurant also offers a range of beverages, from craft beers to specialty cocktails like the Seminole Rap.

If you’re in the mood for something different, Gordos Cuban Cuisine delivers big portions of authentic Cuban food like ropa vieja, Cuban sandwiches, and plantains—perfect for refueling in between innings. For a burger and a beer, check out Midtown Caboose, a laid-back, sports-friendly joint with TVs, wings, and fried pickles. And for the fried seafood lovers who don’t care about tablecloths or fancy menus, Shell Oyster Bar is a no-frills institution with paper plates, hot grease, and a loyal following.
🍻 Nightlife and Drinks
Tallahassee’s nightlife has something for every type of fan. Proof Brewing Co. is the city’s premier craft brewery, with plenty of outdoor space, lawn games, and a rotating lineup of beers brewed on-site. Their Eightfive-0 Pale Ale is a local favorite.

If you’re staying near the stadium, The Brass Tap gives you dozens of beers on tap, bar food, and sports TVs wall to wall. For a touch of class, head to the rooftop Level 8 Lounge at Hotel Duval and enjoy a cocktail while you watch the sun set over the city. If dive bars are more your speed, The Palace Saloon—Tallahassee’s oldest bar—is a great place to swap road trip stories over a stiff drink.

🌳 Outdoor Adventures
For fans bringing families or just looking to kill some time between games, the city offers a surprising number of outdoor escapes. Cascades Park, right in the middle of downtown, features winding trails, fountains, and shady areas for relaxing. Lake Ella, just north of the city center, offers walking paths and duck-watching near a few small cafes.

If you need more space, Tom Brown Park has bike trails, disc golf, and picnic spots. And the Miccosukee Greenway offers a scenic, tree-lined trail that stretches for miles just outside the city. It remains a perfect place to ride a bike through the natural Florida wetlands of mangrove swamps.

Where to Stay
Hotel-wise, you’ll want to stay close to the action. Hotel Indigo in CollegeTown is the most convenient—just a short walk to the stadium and surrounded by food and nightlife. Hotel Duval, located downtown, offers a more upscale experience with a quieter vibe and that rooftop bar mentioned earlier. Four Points by Sheraton provides a reliable stay near the heart of town, and Courtyard by Marriott or Staybridge Suites out on Apalachee Parkway are solid family-friendly options with easy access to both campus and restaurants.

Before you pack up and hit I-10, remember the essentials; maroon and white colored clothing, sunscreen, rain gear and for tradition sakes; a cowbell — even though no cowbells will be allowed in Dick Howser Stadium this weekend. So welcome to Tallahassee, Eat well, yell loud, and back the boys in maroon. Because whether it’s a road game or a super regional, one thing’s for certain: the postseason just feels right when Mississippi State is in the mix.
Hail State !!!!
