The Finalists for the Peggy Gillom Trophy for the 2024-25 season have been announced to crown the best women’s collegiate basketball player in the State of Mississippi. Peggy Gillom-Granderson is a former Ole Miss women’s basketball player, widely regarded as one of the greatest women’s basketball players to come from Mississippi. Between 1976-1980 Gillom set records for the Rebels with 2,486 points and 1,271 rebounds. Many of her records still stand to this day. She would later coach for the Rebels, WNBA’s Houston Comets and was the Head Coach for the Texas A&M Women’s Basketball program from 1998-2003. She was also an assistant coach for Team USA in 2000 Summer Olympics. After serving as associate Head Coach for the Rebels from 2003-2009 she retired and took on a job as a chaplain for the University, a role she continues to this day.
This year’s finalists were selected by a panel of media members from across the state and represent the state’s best basketball talent from Mississippi’s four-year colleges and universities. The winners will be announced in a special ceremony Monday night at the Pearl River River Resort.
