As The Masters unfolds this week at Augusta National Golf Club, all eyes are on Davis Riley, the talented golfer from Hattiesburg. Making his Masters debut, Riley has steadily climbed the ranks of professional golf, earning his place among the sport’s elite.
Born and raised in Hattiesburg, Riley’s passion for golf began at an early age. A 2015 graduate of Presbyterian Christian School where he was named the All-USA Boys Golf Player of the Year his Senior year.  He honed his skills at local courses before making a name for himself at the University of Alabama, where he was two time All-American and represented the U.S. in the Arnold Palmer Cup.
Riley’s road to the Masters was paved with impressive performances in 2024, including a victory in Fort Worth at the Charles Schwab Invitational last May.  And a top 10 finish in Tampa the Valspar Championship last March.  He also had one win in 2023 at the Zurich Classic just down the road in New Orleans, which was his first professional win. His consistent play over the last year earned him a qualification in the 2025 field at Augusta National.
After two rounds at Augusta National Davis Riley remains in the hunt for the prestigious green jacket.  Here’s a look at how Davis Riley did over last two days playing in golf’s most prestigious tournament.
Round 1 (Thursday)
Riley started his Masters debut with a steady performance in the opening round, finishing at +1 (73 strokes).  He recorded five birdies during Thursday’s round. Demonstrating his ability to capitalize on Augusta’s scoring opportunities. However, a few bogeys kept him from climbing higher on the leaderboard.
Round 2 (Friday)
In the second round, Riley improved his play, carding a -1 (71 strokes). Bringing his total score to Even (144 strokes). His second round featured four birdies, including a strong finish on the back nine. His ability to recover from early setbacks has kept him in contention for the weekend rounds.
With the cut line set at +2 Riley has successfully secured his spot for Saturday and Sunday’s round. Riley will need to maintain his momentum and capitalize on Augusta’s scoring holes.
