The Gulf South region is alive with postseason baseball. From Hattiesburg to New Orleans, from Pensacola to Jackson, teams across the Gulf South are headed to the 2025 NCAA D2, D3 and NAIA Regionals, representing a diverse lineup of programs that continue to raise the standard for college baseball in the region.
Whether it’s a nationally ranked powerhouse or a Cinderella story, this year’s field proves that the Gulf Coast and Magnolia State is one of the most vibrant and competitive baseball territories in the country.
NAIA: Three Coast Teams Fight for a Spot in Lewiston
William Carey Crusaders

The Crusaders are back in familiar territory—hosting an NAIA Regional after a stellar campaign in the SSAC. With elite pitching depth and a lineup full of upperclassmen leadership, the Crusaders are looking to break through to Lewiston and make a run at the NAIA World Series.
Their home-field advantage at Milton Wheeler Field gives them an edge, and Carey’s postseason pedigree makes them a serious threat. Other teams joining the Crusaders in Hattiesburg will be Oklahoma Wesleyan, University of British Columbia and Indiana University-Southeast. Carey’s NAIA Regional kicks off Monday (5/12).
Loyola-New Orleans Wolfpack

Loyola’s Wolf Pack has become a rising force in the NAIA ranks. After a solid regular season and a strong showing in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament, the Pack earned an at-large bid to the NAIA Regionals, continuing their impressive resurgence in baseball.
Built around speed, contact hitting, and a fundamentally sound defense, Loyola is a disciplined, well-coached squad that’s flying under the radar—but not for long. This marks their second NAIA postseason appearance in three years, and expectations are high in Uptown. The Wolfpack kick off their Regional Monday in Waleski, GA hosted by Reinhardt University. The other teams in the regional include Reinhardt, Loyola, Oakland City and Ave Maria College.
Southern University-New Orleans Knights

SUNO’s first-ever NAIA Regional appearance is a true underdog story. In just their second year of competition, the Knights rode a red-hot second half of the season and stunned their way through the HBCU conference. Their brand of aggressive, energetic baseball and never-back-down mentality makes them a dangerous draw in any bracket. SUNO travels to Shreveport to kick off their Regional Monday hosted by LSU-Shreveport. Other teams in the Regional include LSU-Shreveport, Mid-American Christian, Johnson University and SUNO.
Two New Orleans schools in the NAIA postseason? That’s something the Crescent City can definitely rally behind.
NCAA Division II: Gulf South Conference Giants Aim for Cary, NC for the D2 World Series.
West Florida Argonauts

UWF remains one of the DII South’s strongest programs, and 2025 has been no different. The Argonauts cruised through the GSC slate and head into the NCAA South Regional with a top-tier pitching staff and a loaded infield. Their sights are set on a deep postseason run and a return to Cary. The D2 Regionals begin Thursday (5/15), with UWF traveling to Lakeland, FL hosted by Florida Southern. Other teams in the Regional include Florida Southern, UWF, Delta State and West Alabama
Delta State Fighting Okra

A storied program with championship DNA, Delta State is postseason-tested and ready for another charge. The Statesmen feature one of the best power-hitting lineups in the Gulf South, and their experience in tight games could be the edge they need to punch through the region. Like UWF Delta State travels to Lakeland along with West Alabama. Three teams from the Gulf South Conference will be vying for a chance to go to the World Series this weekend.
Mississippi College Choctaws

The Choctaws are back in the postseason for the first time in years after a late surge and a gutsy GSC Tournament performance. With a fast-improving pitching staff and a few big bats at the top of the order, MC has the tools to pull off a few surprises in regional play. The Choctaws travel to Tampa for the University of Tampa Regional, other teams participating include Lynn University and Albany State.
NCAA Division III: Millsaps Crashes the Dance
Millsaps Majors

The Majors are headed to the NCAA Division III Regionals for the first time since 2013 after a breakout campaign in the Southern Athletic Association. With clutch hitting, strong team chemistry, and a trio of underclassmen arms leading the rotation, Millsaps is playing their best baseball at the perfect time.
They’ll have to travel for the regional round, but this team has proven it can win on the road—and they’re hungry to prove themselves on a national stage. The Majors will travel to Marshall, TX Regional hosted by East Texas Baptist. Other teams in the Regional include Trinity University and Huntingdon College.
