#5 Tennessee vs. #6 Ole Miss

Tennessee struck early, scoring two runs in the second inning thanks to a double by Manny Marin that brought in Dalton Bargo and Andrew Fischer. The Volunteers added another run in the fifth inning, when Ensley grounded out to third base, allowing Curley to score. Ole Miss responded in the bottom of the fifth, with Austin Fawley launching a two-run homer to left field, bringing H. Federico home and cutting the deficit to 3-2.
Despite Ole Miss’ efforts, Tennessee’s pitching staff held firm, shutting down the Rebels’ offense for the remainder of the game. Liam Doyle, a former Ole Miss pitcher who transferred to Tennessee, delivered a dominant performance, pitching 8â…“ innings, allowing just three hits and two runs, and throwing 111 pitches.
Saturday: Tennessee 5 — Ole Miss 8
Ole Miss came out swinging, scoring three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Tennessee responded with solo home runs in the first and second innings, but Ole Miss continued to apply pressure, adding runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings to extend their advantage. Tennessee cut the deficit to 6-4 in the sixth with a two-run homer by Dalton Bargo, but Ole Miss answered right back with two more runs in the bottom of the inning to maintain control.
Tennessee threatened in the seventh, loading the bases with no outs, but Ole Miss’ bullpen held firm, allowing just one run before shutting down the Volunteers’ offense for the remainder of the game.
Sunday: Tennessee 10 — Ole Miss 8
Ole Miss rallied from a five-run deficit to take an 8-7 lead in the eighth, but Tennessee responded with three runs in the ninth to seal the victory. Reese Chapman delivered the go-ahead two-run homer, securing the Volunteers’ win.
Tennessee jumped ahead early, scoring one run in the first and third innings, but Ole Miss responded with two runs in the second thanks to Austin Fawley’s third home run of the weekend. The Rebels took a 3-2 lead in the third, but Tennessee exploded for five runs in the sixth, highlighted by Cannon Peebles’ two-run homer. Ole Miss answered back with five runs of their own, taking the lead in the eighth on a wild pitch. However, Tennessee’s late-game heroics proved decisive.
Tennessee won the series 2-1, improving their record to 31-5 overall and 11-4 in SEC play. Ole Miss, now 27-9 overall, will look to bounce back Tuesday morning in the annual Swayze Field school day game against Little Rock at 11a.m.
Mississippi State vs. #12 Alabama

Friday: Mississippi State 4 — Alabama 2
Mississippi State struck early, taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run homer and an RBI single. Alabama responded in the third inning, cutting the deficit to 4-1 with a double from Justin Lebron. The Crimson Tide added another run in the fourth, thanks to a two-run homer by Lebron, bringing the score to 4-3. However, Mississippi State’s dominant fifth inning, where they plated seven runs on seven hits, sealed the game.
Saturday: Mississippi State 1 — Alabama 4
Alabama took control early, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding another in the third. Mississippi State struggled to generate offense against Alabama’s dominant pitching, managing just one run in the third inning. Richie Bonomolo Jr. played a key role for Alabama, delivering a two-run triple and scoring later in the game. Mississippi State’s pitching kept the game close but couldn’t contain Alabama’s early offensive surge. Alabama’s bullpen shut down Mississippi State in the final innings to secure the win.
Sunday:Mississippi State 4 — Alabama 2
Mississippi State’s pitching staff dominated, holding Alabama to just two hits throughout the game. The Bulldogs took the lead in the seventh inning, thanks to a pinch-hit home run by Ross Highfill, followed by another solo shot in the eighth by Ace Reese. Alabama struggled offensively, with Will Hodo and Brady Neal providing the only hits for the Crimson Tide.
Mississippi State won the series 2-1, improving their record to 22-14. Up next the Bulldogs face a SWAC foe in the Southern Jaguars Tuesday night from Dudy Noble Field.
Southern Miss vs. Texas State
Friday: Southern Miss 5 — Texas State 2
Southern Miss jumped ahead early, scoring one run in the first inning on a solo home run by Nick Monistere. The Golden Eagles extended their lead in the third inning, when Carson Paetow doubled to left center, bringing in two runs. They added one run in the fourth and another in the fifth, giving them a 5-0 lead heading into the final innings.
Texas State mounted a late rally, scoring two runs in the ninth inning, but Southern Miss’ pitching staff held firm, securing the win.
Saturday: Southern Miss 12 — Texas State 2
Southern Miss broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring five runs to take control. They added one run in the fifth and six more in the sixth, putting the game out of reach. Texas State managed just one run in the first inning, but was shut down for the remainder of the game.
Sunday: Southern Miss 10 Texas State 11
Texas State jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding another in the second. Southern Miss responded in the third, plating three runs to cut the deficit. The Bobcats extended their lead with two more runs in the third, but Southern Miss kept fighting, scoring one run in the fifth and three more in the sixth to tie the game at 6-6.
The teams traded blows in the late innings, with Southern Miss taking a 10-8 lead in the seventh, only for Texas State to answer back with two runs in the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, Texas State sealed the win with a walk-off RBI single, securing the 11-10 victory
