The mystery is over — and the coast’s most beloved hockey mascot is officially back.
The Biloxi Breakers, the new Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) franchise taking over the Mississippi Sea Wolves, have announced their team mascot will be none other than Hook, the classic wolf-themed mascot originally made famous by the Sea Wolves.
For fans who remember the glory days at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum — packed crowds, flying fists, and the unmistakable sound of skates slicing through Gulf Coast humidity — Hook was as much a part of the action as the players. With his oversized pirate hat, sly smirk, and one-of-a-kind swagger, Hook wasn’t just a mascot. He was a symbol of Biloxi hockey.
Hook first patrolled the ice during the Sea Wolves’ original run in the ECHL (1996-05; 2007-09) and later the FPHL (2022-25). He hyped up crowds, taunted visiting teams, and made young fans fall in love with hockey in a part of the country better known for seafood than slapshots.
Now, with the Breakers ushering in a new era of hard-hitting hockey, they’ve decided to honor that past by bringing Hook back to the bench
Last month, we ran a poll asking fans what kind of mascot the Breakers should unveil. Suggestions ranged from sea creatures and coast-themed characters to brand-new creations. But in the end, nostalgia won out — and Hook’s name kept surfacing. The fans spoke, and the Breakers listened.

Though the Breakers are starting fresh in the FPHL, the decision to bring Hook back is a nod to the city’s rich hockey heritage. He’ll be front and center at home games this fall, energizing the crowd, posing for photos, and creating chaos in the aisles — just like old times.
From kids seeing him for the first time to longtime fans feeling the spark of Sea Wolves memories, Hook is once again ready to sail the rink and stir the Gulf waters.
The Biloxi Breakers open their inaugural season in October at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. And rest assured — wherever there’s noise to make and trouble to cause, Hook will be there.
