Trinidad Chambliss, QB – Ole Miss
Chambliss was unstoppable in the Rebels’ 45–10 win over Tulane. The dual-threat quarterback passed for 307 yards and 2 TDs on 17-of-27 throws, while also rushing for 112 yards, finishing with 419 total yards. His performance marked the first Rebel since 2023 to eclipse 300 passing and 100 rushing in the same game, sparking Ole Miss to 4–0.
Defensive Player of the Week

Chris Jones, LB – Southern Miss
Though Southern Miss fell 30–20 at Louisiana Tech, Jones turned in a defensive clinic. The senior linebacker racked up a game-high 14 tackles, including five solo stops, plus 0.5 sack and a tackle for loss. His sideline-to-sideline presence kept the Golden Eagles within striking distance, keeping Louisiana Tech scoreless in the second half.

Result: Tulane 10, Ole Miss 45
Ole Miss overwhelmed Tulane behind a dominant offensive and defensive performance. Trinidad Chambliss threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 112 yards. Kewan Lacy scored two 1-yard rushing TDs, and Dae’Quan Wright caught a TD pass from Chambliss.
Ole Miss built a 23–3 lead by halftime and blew the game open in the fourth quarter with a 22-point surge. The Rebel defense held Tulane to just 282 total yards and limited their passing attack to 10-of-29.

Mississippi State (4-0)
Result: Northern Illinois 10, Mississippi State 38
Mississippi State improved to 4–0 for the first time since 2014 with a convincing win at Davis Wade Stadium. The Bulldogs started sluggishly, falling behind 3–0 in the first quarter before finally getting the offense rolling. Quarterback Blake Shapen settled in, engineering a pair of scoring drives capped by short rushing touchdowns that gave MSU a 14–10 lead at halftime.
The turning point came in the third quarter, when the Bulldog defense — led by Isaac Smith’s red-zone interception — shut the door on any NIU comeback. From that moment forward, Mississippi State outscored the Huskies 24–0, pounding the ball behind a resurgent run game. Running back Davon Booth powered the ground attack, rushing for 92 yards and two touchdowns, while the offensive line paved the way for 292 rushing yards as a team.
On the other side of the ball, the Bulldog defense tightened up after a shaky first half. They limited NIU to just 63 rushing yards on 29 attempts and pressured quarterback NIU Quarterback Josh Holst into hurried throws. The defensive front combined for three sacks, and the secondary held the Huskies scoreless over the final 33 minutes of play.

Southern Miss (2-2)
Result: Southern Miss 10, Louisiana Tech 30
Southern Miss outgained Louisiana Tech 514 to 340 in total yardage and held the ball for over 32 minutes of possession. But costly miscues turned the tide. In particular, a second-quarter interception was returned 48 yards for a pick-6 by LT’s Kolbe Fields.
Louisiana Tech’s Blake Baker threw for 239 yards and added a rushing touchdown. The Bulldogs also scored via short-yardage runs (Omiri Wiggins, Clay Thevenin).
Southern Miss tried to rally late: Reed Harradine hit a 30-yard field goal in the third, and Braylon Braxton threw a 34-yard TD to Carl Chester with 22 seconds remaining. But LT held on. The Golden Eagle defense, led by Chris Jones, was lights out in the second half shutting out the Bulldogs.

Result: Defeated Fort Valley State 21-16
The final quarter saw the Statesmen string together two clutch scoring drives to secure the win. Fort Valley had outscored DSU 13–0 in the first half (with a late field goal in Q4),but could not keep up in the second half.
Key stat from the box: DSU threw for 78 yards, ran for 87 yards (Alston) and had contributions from Cole Kirk (78) and Neno Lemay (55).
Fort Valley’s Don Hudson had 106 passing yards, 46 rushing yards, and Braelen Morgan caught for 74. Penalties nearly cost the Statesmen — Delta was assessed 11 penalties for 121 yards, but ultimately held on.

Millsaps (2-1)
Result: Defeated Hendrix College 41-19
Millsaps piled up a big win in Conway over Hendrix. Freshman QB Grant Bizjack accounted for 416 all-purpose yards, throwing 5 touchdowns on 26-of-36 passing while rushing for 64 more yards. The Millsaps defense was dominant, generating seven sacks and holding Hendrix’s rushing attack to just 27 yards on 29 carries.
Hendrix did have standout receiver Westin Bruce, who posted a career day: 224 yards on 4 catches including a 96-yard touchdown and a 76-yard score.

Belhaven (0-3)
Result: Lost UW-River Falls 65-0
In Jackson, the No. 12 UW-River Falls Falcons rolled over Belhaven in a shutout, 65–0.
River Falls was out in front early and never let up — scoring in all four quarters (7, 28, 16, 14) and building a 35–0 halftime advantage. Belhaven was held to just 123 total yards (35 rushing, 88 passing), while UW-RF exploded for 615 total yards (274 rush, 341 pass).
Defensively, UW-RF forced 4 interceptions, broke open plays frequently, and never allowed Belhaven inside the red zone. Belhaven’s top defensive stat: Tyler Miller had 10 tackles; Wyatt Beck, Luke Handy, and Icarius Hodgin each added 9 tackles apiece.
