
On March 11, 2020 the 17th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs traveled to Biloxi to take on the 4th ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders in a two game mid-week series as Keesler Federal Park in Biloxi. The Bulldogs would get the win 3-2 in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,029 fans. Little did the players and fans in attendance at that game know is that would be a wrap on the Bulldogs 2020 season after that game. The next day was the infamous date of March 12, 2020, when the world was halted thanks to the Covid pandemic.
On March 11, 2025; five years to the date of fateful day the Bulldogs return to Biloxi for the 4th annual Hancock Whitney Classic, an annual neutral site game in Biloxi where Mississippi State plays a two game mid-week series. The Bulldogs will play Old Dominion on Tuesday (3/11) and Nicholls State (3/12).
It’ll be a busy week for Biloxi and Keesler Federal Park. All week they are hosting the Battle of the Beach High School Baseball Tournament. The Tournament began on Friday and will pick back up Thursday, the day after Hancock Whitney Classic. This entire week is a big economic impact for the Coast.
This will be the 11th time the Bulldogs have played at Keesler Federal Park, where they old a 7-3 record overall in Biloxi. Mississippi State is 4-2 in Hancock Whitney Classic games splitting last year’s Classic with a loss against South Alabama and a win against New Orleans. The Bulldogs are coming off a four-game win streak beating Southern Miss last Tuesday and sweeping the 3-game series against Queens College over the weekend. Evan Siary will start Tuesday’s night contest for Mississippi State.
